Links and Threads
A web-based magazine for district and school leaders, educators and their arts partners. Its purpose is to assist in making arts learning a more integral part of the core curriculum and achieving the greatest advantage possible from the arts for students. The publication builds upon knowledge gained through the 2004 NEA Summer Institute for School Leaders, promotes dialogue about the role of arts learning in school improvement, shares success stories and provides news about arts-related developments and opportunities. Links & Threads includes feature articles about arts education issues and the achievements of arts learning programs and initiatives in Ohio. It also includes state and national news items, links to other online resources, and information to assist with advancing and improving your arts education programs through planning, advocacy, and evaluation. Visit Links & threads online to read the latest news and features and to browse the archives of all feature articles written since 2004.
Evaluation Materials
A variety of learning tools and other resources have been compiled to help educators, arts administrators and other constituents evaluate their programs. Along with Focusing the Light (above), other resources include:
• Evaluation Studio, which includes a beginning tutorial on evaluation terms and concepts, tip sheets on how to design an evaluation tool based on needs, and examples of effective evaluation tools, plans and reports
• 2012 Program Evaluation Webinar, created by the OAC in partnership with noted evaluator and organizational development consultant Craig Dreeszen. The webinar was based on prior workshops led by Dr. Dreeszen and OAC Deputy Director Mary Campbell-Zopf that focus on demystifying the language of evaluation, carrying out an evaluation plan successfully, exploring logic models and indicators, and providing hands-on lessons to help readers try concepts out in their own work. The webinar is available as a free two-part PowerPoint: download part one, download part two. You may also listen to a live training session conducted with practitioners from around the state: listen to part one, listen to part two.
